Chicago Smash!

Sometimes trips go well, sometimes they go really well - our trip to Chicago was INCREDIBLE! We had a wonderful evening of Beethoven, Bluegrass, friendship, and music hosted by Stefan and Julian Hersh (Darnton and Hersh Violin Shop), and Agnieszka Likos (Likos String Academy). If you're a violinist in the Chicago area or are passing through town, you must go to their shop and check out the Likos String Academy

On Sunday we ventured west to Wheaton, IL, where we performed at a Gala hosted by our friend, Dr. Tony Payne, to support a charity of Wheaton College. Dr. Payne has been a big supporter of ChessBoxer and it’s always a pleasure spending time with him and discussing all things music related!

ChessBoxer has appeared with many friends and musicians on Daytrotter over the last couple of years, but we’ve never performed our own session...all that changed when we paid a visit to the Daytrotter Studio in Rock Island, IL, and recorded 4 tunes for an upcoming release! We were joined by our close friend and musical companion, Tyler Andal, and performed a couple familiar CB songs as well as a couple new pieces. We’ll keep you posted about the release and when you’ll be able to hear the music!

Matt and Ross will be heading separate ways this weekend for a few guest posts with other bands - you can catch Matt at the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Festival where he’ll be performing with The Black Lillies as well as an intimate set featuring Matt, Josh Oliver, and Mike Seal. Ross will be in Nashville on Friday with singer Howard Fishman (at the Rutledge), and then back to Chicago over the weekend with renowned Irish band, RUNA.

Check back to keep up with the latest happenings and adventures, big things are coming up this fall that you won’t want to miss!
